We invite you to come and experience the richness of God's blessings in Christ with us.
In the Lutheran Church, along with most liturgical churches, the Church Year is centered around the life and teachings of Jesus. During the first half of the Church year we focus on the life of Jesus, especially His birth, suffering, death, and resurrection. This is known as the festival season since it includes the festivals of Christmas, Easter, Pentecost, and Trinity. The second half of the Church year is the non-festival season. During this time the Church focuses on the teachings of Christ.
The teachings of Christ begin with His teaching of the Holy Trinity. The mystery of the Holy Trinity is profound and saving. The Scriptures present to us this God in three persons and there is no other. But the trinity of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit is more than a mystery to be contemplated. This is the God who is to be worshiped and adored and there is no other. The Church never strays from the doctrine of the Trinity because we recognize that this is the God who comes to us and saves us eternally.
Sundays in the the non-festival season are usually referred to as Sundays after Trinity or Sundays after Pentecost. Themes included in the Sundays after Trinity include the reception of salvation, the life of the saved, the character of the saved, and the saved facing the end. The first five Sundays focus on the reception of salvation. Here you'll find the upcoming topics and service information for the services at Gethsemane:
